The Seven Character Traits
1. Peacemaking
Seeking resolution and reconciliation with humility and calmness—solving problems in a calm way
The brave and beautiful thing: Students who have experienced grace in their own moments of conflict learn to extend that same grace to others, choosing healing over winning and understanding over being understood. (Romans 12:21)
2. Perseverance
Sticking with something with strength, endurance, and determination even when it is hard
The brave and beautiful thing: When students know they’re supported through struggles, they develop the confidence to attempt harder things, fail forward, and pursue their calling even when the path is difficult. (James 1:2-4)
3. Integrity
Being honest, truthful, and consistent in thoughts and actions—doing the right thing even when no one is looking
The brave and beautiful thing: When students know they’re loved unconditionally, they find the freedom to be authentic, admitting mistakes and choosing truth over convenience because their worth isn’t tied to perfection. (Proverbs 12:17,19)
4. Love
Caring and sacrificing for others
The brave and beautiful thing: Students who have experienced deep belonging naturally extend that same radical hospitality to others, creating space at the table for those who need to be seen and valued. (1 Corinthians 13:4-8a)
5. Respect
Showing value and dignity to others and environments—treating others the way you want to be treated
The brave and beautiful thing: Because our students know what it feels like to be truly respected for who they are, they naturally honor the image of God in everyone they encounter, building bridges across differences. (Philippians 2:3-4)
6. Wisdom
Making good decisions by using experience, discernment, and critical thinking
The brave and beautiful thing: Students who feel genuinely valued learn to trust their judgment and make choices that honor both their calling and their community, even when those choices require courage. (James 3:17)
7. Service
Helping others by selflessly working for God
The brave and beautiful thing: Students who have been served by teachers who know their story develop hearts that see needs and respond with action, understanding that leadership means washing feet, not demanding attention. (Ephesians 4:32)
