REOPENING FALL 2020
Letter from Head of School, dated Tuesday, September 15, 2020.
We wanted to let you know about our next steps to reopening here at Eastbrook Academy. We can only imagine the many different emotions that have been present through this first couple weeks of school. As a staff, we have had many as well. We miss our kids in the building, we want to teach them well at all times, but we also want to keep everyone safe.
We have had some positive communication with the Milwaukee Health Department that allows us to transition into Phase 2. The targeted date for beginning this Phase is Thursday, October 1st. Phase 2 looks different between K4-5th grade and 6th-12th grade. K4-5th grade is able in Phase 2 to be in person Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Wednesday is an asynchronous Virtual Learning day that is used for deep cleaning in the school building.
Grades 6-12 will be assigned to 2 days in person and the remaining 3 days will be virtual. Wednesday is a virtual day for everyone in middle and high school as well. The size of our classroom space in middle and high school does not allow us to get all of our students in person 4 days a week like lower school in this phase. This is the reason for the difference between the two levels.
Please help us by being diligent in your response to the forms that will be sent out tomorrow. These forms will allow us to be fully prepared for students in the building and ensure we are holding to the promises we have outlined to the Milwaukee Health Department in our plan. There are extensive cleaning and spacing protocols that need to happen, so there will be strict deadlines for the form to allow optimal planning.
As always, if you have any questions about the reopening process, please reach out to me. We are in this together and want to make sure this transition flows as smoothly as possible.
